i guess atleast from the ones ive seen so far.. im one of the only people influenced by their friends. *shrugs* oh wellz guess im a weirdo or somethin.
SO heres my chart.. heres the break down for anyone who doesnt know who or what these are somehow.
1. Humberto Ramos: one of the first artists i cared enough to learn the name of. Crimson was the first comic i started collecting to actually read them. everything before that was gifts from people who assumed i liked comics cause i liked to draw. but i didnt start actually reading them till highschool all thanks to this mans art and story.
2. My MAMA: this is my mom and i here.. and she is the rock i can always look to for inspirado. shes lived and done so much always with people telling her she couldnt and she always not only did it but dominated at it. i wish i had HALF her drive. shes intense. love ya mama.
3. Kanoelani Barlow: also known on dA as ~deadly-silence ive known this girl for close to 11 years now. shes one of the most important people in my life and no matter what has happened and what will happen later I love her and she has been my biggest muse for as long as i can remember. love you baby doll.
4. J. Scott Campbell: this dude has a wicked ability for capturing likenesses and drawin some of the nicest lookin ladies in the game. his style is sick theres no denying that. so much so i see toooons of copycats poppin up all over. no bigger form of flattery tho right?
5. HIP HOP: here represented by two big influences atleast on my listening habits "Eminem" and "Black Thought" of the Roots Crew. music in general is a huuuge deal for me. all kinds but my renewed love for hip hop music (not rap) has got me in and out of some intense moods. nothin like it.
6. Spider-Man: okay so cooonstantly people are asking me.. why do you like spider man so much? youre afraid of spiders! to which i say thats part of why i like him so much. i haaaaaate spiders and im terrified of heights! too pretty important aspects of spiderman i would say. plus hes a smart ass and ends up with girls that are way too hot for him. Sounds like my kinda role model right there!
7. Ninja Turtles! these 4 mutated freaks of nature were my first artistic obsession!.. i remember watching the cartoon as a kid and drawing ninja turtle heads over and over again until I perfected it. atleast I thought I had hahahah. its all i drew for years.... well until power rangers came out and I realized i had NO idea how to draw a human. hahah oh well. baby steps.
8. Crystal Thomas: a.k.a. `ctJemm shes an amazing young woman and anyone who says otherwise is an idiot. shes got a crazy talent that shes been evolving to even more amazing levels all the time in very short amounts of it. ive never been so inspired to work on my own projects until i saw how crazily she can bring them to life. youre an amazing artist and a brilliant friend. Lurve you Jemm Jemm!
9. Pedro Delgado: to some known as ~DarkLP to most known as ¢greatLP and I think he really earns that title of great. hes one of the cleanest pencilers Ive ever seen. hes gotten his style down to a science. theres plenty that try and do what he does. but no ones got it on lock like him. he took me under his wing when i first got on dA and while my style has changed tons since those times. ill never forget the things i learned... oh yeah and if you get the chance party with him sometime. HES CRAZY!
10. Adrian Alphona: the artist from the original art team of runaways. i actually should have mentioned his colorist on that run also cause both him and Christina Strain are both amazingly bad ass and some of my faaaaaave artists from the current generation of bad asses.
11. Jeff Cruz: also known as mutha lovin *lastscionz but prolly slightly better known as Chamba but whatever you know him as the dude is bad ass way beyond his years and i seriously can see him bein one of the biggest dudes in comics in nooooooooo time. I remember when we were both just fans and in no time at all hes mr. street fighter 2 turbo. in the blink of an eye. theres prolly been no other peer ive learned as much yet been as challenged by. im the Ken to his Ryu as ive always said. until we meet again, friend.
12. Joe Mad. what can you even say?.. when the dude actually puts out comics they are crazy lookin! hes got amazing pencils and a crazy style that is def recognizable. that blend of anime and western comics is something thats def stuck with me over the years.
13. Mike Choi. or *mikechoi i was familiar with him on witchblade but i didnt really fall in love with his art until X-23 hes got a very open line style that ive always been mighty fond of as you can prolly tell in some of my art. he and prolly josh middleton were the biggest influence on me as far as detail with out cramming in shadows and flat blacks.
14. Robert Porter: or *Robaato to the well informed. another one of my closest homies from dA... hes got mad skillz and a style all his own. dude gets slept on quite a bit but hes def worth a view and one of the funnest cats to jam with. (when he actually finishes his parts of the jam )
15. Interview with a Vampire: okay so for those of you that know me you can already prolly see the influence of these two characters on me visually hahaha. its no secret to most that i have fangs and bright eyes like that but antonio banderas SO gangster in that flick! and i still say best vampire movie ever made. im on Team Lestat! SUCK IT EMO GLITTER VAMPS!
hope you enjoyed the journey through my inspirados. for anyone that actually read all this youre amazing! and i now love you too!
"7. Ninja Turtles! these 4 mutated freaks of nature were my first artistic obsession!.. i remember watching the cartoon as a kid and drawing ninja turtle heads over and over again until I perfected it."
very, very cool to read. I just now found you here on DA through your jam with lastscionz. I am really digging your work so far. I'm nowhere near the level you and Jeff are at yet, but I'm working on it. I'd love to train under the two of you when I get more time to actually work on my art, and not just a sketch here and there.
Interesting Influences, though considering the Proportions and positions L. Scott Cambell has done... no wonder a comic reviewer I watch doesn't like his work XD
dude me too me too! lol
It's interesting to see what inspires different artists. Thanks for the insight.
